Waterskiiing Santa Returns to Alexandria on Dec. 24

12.16.2021

Mark your calendars, friends! On December 24, 2021, Waterskiiing Santa will return to the Potomac! The quirky event has been an annual tradition since 1986, when Santa Claus (dressed in his festive red suit and hat) and his crew first went water skiing from Founders Park all the way to Point Lumley Park. It’s even become known as the longest running water ski holiday show in Old Town Alexandria. After every show, they have Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and the rest of the crew interact and greet everyone by the Christmas Tree in Waterfront Park. You’ll get to take pictures and say hello to them, making it a fun event even for kids.

If you’re interested, you can join the crew and become a part of the water skier team. They welcome anyone who doesn’t mind the cold water, and of course, has a dry suit to wear. Or, if you want to help out in another way with the show, you can do so by being a sponsor, support personnel, or a boat driver (if you have a USA waterski certification).
